HDD INSTALL INCORRECT FUNCTION

Question

I am trying to add an HDD to my Asus Windows 10 PC. I have followed the instructions for using diskpart. I select the disk then enter FORMAT but it says no volume selected.

Does your PC detect the newly added HDD? Kindly right-click on Start > Disk Management > Maximize it > Screenshot it and post it back.

Thanks Dyari. This is from Disk Management. I think Disk1 is the disk I'm trying to add.

Disk 1 is not initialized. Kindly, right-click Start > Disk Management > Right-click on Disk1 > Initialize Disk > Select the disk(s) to initialize and choose MBR or GPT partition style.

When I right-click on the disk in disk management, "Initialize" is greyed out.

Thanks for updating me.

It seems like your disk might not be fully detected by the system, and the issue could be related to the disk itself. Have you used that HDD before?

Kindly ensure the SATA and power cables are connected properly.

Please open Command Prompt as Administrator > Type: diskpart and press Enter >

Type list disk to see if Disk 1 is listed.

If listed, type: select disk 1 > Then type: clean.

After that, try initializing the disk again in Disk Management.
