Update on Aug31 2024 took away USB eject function and the hard drive keeps working also cannot install USB devices I'm afraid to roll back the install I have things I cannot lose, USB devices that once worked now do not.

This is not a reported problem in that update, if you go to the Settings app - Update & Security - Windows Update - View update history - Uninstall updates, is that update listed there?
If the update is listed there, then it would be safe to uninstall that update to see if that resolves the problem.
