You can use ShowKeyPlus form the Store and enter the key you have in Check edition. What details does it give about the key.
It may depend where you bought the product key and is it is valid. If it is low cost then probably not.

I try typing my new key that i bought but i always get the error product key not found but find the licensing do i just need to buy a new key at this point?

Where did you get this new key? Did you buy it from third party or from Microsoft? What is the key for? Windows 7/8? or Windows 10? Is it for Home or Pro edition?
Can you please type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch command prompt, then run the following command:
slmgr /dlv
Then share a screenshot please. Thanks!
