    Hi Brian,

I tried updating the driver. Even tried uninstalling the driver. But I have a question why are they always the same keys which stop working for some time and then work when I press them repeatedly and die some time later again. Also when I use keyboard test they don't work at first but on pressing multiple keys together they work. It's always the same set of keys. And when they work they work smoothly too sometimes

    Hello, Kirtan Sayta

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community

Thank you for your feedback. I read the information you provided.

I understand that the sudden inability of the keyboard to respond to characters will cause great inconvenience to your work and daily use. Generally speaking, the keyboard cannot output characters, which may be due to problems with the physical connection, errors in the keyboard's related settings, or the need to update the keyboard driver.

You can try the following methods, which may help your current problem.

Method 1. First, based on your description of the problem, I guess that there may be dust on some keys on your keyboard, so there will be inaccurate recognition. I suggest that you can clean your keyboard first and then test whether the problem still exists. If you have a spare keyboard, you can also try to connect another keyboard to test whether the problem still exists.

If the problem disappears, your keyboard may have a hardware problem, and you need to consider replacing another keyboard. If the problem persists, please try the following method.

Method 2. Sometimes, a simple restart can solve many temporary problems. Please restart your computer and try to use the keyboard again.

Method 3. Update or reinstall the keyboard driver

Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager".

In Device Manager, find and expand the "Keyboard" option.

Right-click your keyboard device, select "Update driver", and then select "Search automatically for updated driver software".

If updating the driver doesn't work, you can try right-clicking the keyboard device and selecting "Uninstall device". Once completed, restart your computer and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

Method 4. Check your keyboard settings

Press the Windows + I keys to open the Settings app.

Select "Time & Language", then "Language".

Make sure you are using the correct keyboard layout. Click the language under "Preferred Language", select "Options", and make sure the keyboard layout is set correctly.

Method 5. Check your keyboard shortcuts and filter key settings

Press the Windows + I keys to open the "Settings" app.

In the menu on the left, select "Keyboard".

Scroll down to find the "Use Sticky Keys" and "Use Toggle Keys" options. Make sure they are turned off.

    Best regards

Brian - Microsoft Community Support Specialist
