Getting this PrintService error in Windows Event Viewer at every boot:

The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module us008lm.dll, error code 0x7E. See the event user data for context information.

Samsung  ProExpress M3320ND laser printer seems to be working properly. It's hardwired to a USB3 port on desktop PC.

Windows 10 Pro 22H2

Samsung Universal Printer Driver 3.0.15.0

Driver Type 3:  User Mode

Searched entire boot drive but us008lm.dll file isn't found. Uninstalled the printer completely and reinstalled the latest driver, making sure the Printer Monitor option was checked. Still get same error at every boot. Can't find anything useful about us008lm.dll on the net.

Hi, thank you for that information, have you tried to uninstall all printer drivers and then reinstall it back after renaming the "3" folder? if not, I suggest doing that, If none will work from the above solution, I recommend doing an in-place upgrade wherein it will upgrade the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.

Note: before doing this make sure to create a restore point: https://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/402753...

    1. go to this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...
    2. Select Download Now, and select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
    3. On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
    4. On the What do you want to do? page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
    5. After downloading and installing, it should fix the issue.

Not quite, but thanks for your help.

The printer started working after I renamed folder "3.old" back to "3", but now I'm getting the error in Event Viewer that Print Spooler can't find us008lm.dll again.

Guess I'm stuck with this problem unless I can figure out what app or service is supposed to install us008lm.dll and/or why Print Spooler is even looking for it...

    Thanks for the response.

Followed your instructions and got 18 spooler errors after I cold booted the PC. Now it's failing to load 2 different .dll but no longer complaining about us008lm.dll which was the original error.

The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3*FXSUI.DLL*, error code 0x7E.

The print spooler failed to load a plug-in module

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\DRIVERS\x64\3*us015du.dll*, error code 0x7E.

Printer doesn't work now. File>print for a test file lists the Samsung printer with status "ready", but the Print button is grayed out. If I select Microsoft Print to pdf, the Print button becomes active.

I stopped Print Spooler service again and navigated to spool>drivers>x64 folder. The 3.old folder is still there, but it didn't create a new 3 folder. Those 2 missing dll are in the 3.old folder, but us008lm.dll is not in that folder.

I looked at the link you provided. It says to navigate to spool>PRINTERS folder and delete its contents but the folder is already empty.

I previously uninstalled the printer in Windows and reinstalled it with its latest USB driver (two different times) but that doesn't provide the us008lm.dll file.

Going to rename 3.old back to 3 and hope the printer will work again, even if the Print Spooler service still gives the original us008lm.dll error.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks!

EDIT: Renamed 3.old back to 3 and printer works again. Whew!
