I bought the MS heic video extensions app but could not get it to work. It also interfered with the jpg files on my laptop (they wouldn't open). So I uninstaller the heic video extensions app. But still need to know how to take the heic photos from my phone and be able to open them on my laptop. Appreciate any help. Thank you.

Hi Judy,
I am glad you found that info useful.
Regards,
Thank you Ramesh. You are very knowledgeable.
Hi Judy,
The following PowerShell command uninstalls Photos for the current user account.
Get-AppxPackage Microsoft.Windows.Photos | Remove-AppxPackage
You can then reinstall Photos from Microsoft Store.
Open Microsoft Store. In the Store App, search for “Microsoft Photos” and install it.
If that doesn't help, please try the Photos Legacy app. Once installed, right-click on a .heic file, click "Open with", and select "Photos legacy".
Hello Ramesh
Thank you for taking the time to respond to me.
Yes Photos works fine normally. It just stopped working after downloading the extensions app.
After downloading the extension app no photo in any format would open, just appeared as a tile on my laptop. So no error message to explain.
Sounds like reinstallation is worth a try.
With thanks again.
Judy
Hi Judy445, This is Ramesh.
What happens when you open a .heic or .jpg file using the Photos app? If you get any error messages, please post them here.
Does the Photos app open correctly when you launch it directly? If so, reinstall the .heic video extensions from the Store. Then, download and install the Photos Legacy app to see if it can open the .heic files.
