iOS native mail access to Exchange On Prem - Can I use App Proxy to achieve this?

Problem:

  • Deployment of iOS devices to be managed by Endpoint Manager.
  • Mailboxes are on prem, exch is not internet facing.
  • Devices currently use AirWatch SEG (Secure Email Gateway) for mailbox access. (SEG disappears when they move to Endpoint Manager)
  • External OWA access is disabled.
  • Hybrid Exch is enabled however not yet to be adopted, mailboxes still reside on premises.

App Proxy being a type of reverse proxy to publish on prem web apps externally, can this same concept apply to publish Exch on prem mailbox access (Not OWA/Outlook Web) for iOS native mail app?

    Publishing OWA is the only supported Exchange scenario with Azure AD application proxy.
