Hi, I recently bought a new windows pc and today when I tried to type my pin in I got an error message that read: The instruction at 0x0000… referenced memory at 0x000000000… The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the program. I have looked around but all the answers require signing in, which I cannot do. Can anyone help?

That looks like it could be a system cause, suggest you try reinstalling windows, which you can refer to in my first reply.

    Looking forward to your feedback.

    To Aaron.T

Thank you for your response and I apologise for the wait. I have attempted your method and have found that when I select the power button I am given no option to restart or shut down and can therefore not attempt either of your possible solutions. Do you know why this is happening and any way to fix this issue?

    Many Thanks

    -Sam

    Hello, Samuel Long2

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

Thank you for your feedback. I understand that you are experiencing problems with Pin. You can try to see if you can get into Safe Mode. At the Windows logon screen, hold down the Shift key while selecting “Power > Restart”.

After restarting, > Restart > Startup Settings > “Advanced Options Troubleshooting ”

Choose 4 or 5. Safe Mode with or without network.

If you are able to access it, search for CMD in the search bar, select Run as administrator, and enter the following commands in order:

    net user newuser /add

    net localgroup administrators newuser /add

This will create a new local administrator account, newuser is a username you can change.

If the above does not work, there may be a problem with the system configuration. It is recommended that you do a fresh install of windows using USB installation media.
