Ive been having these crashes for close to 2 years now. Almost always after closing a game. Occasionally it crashes a game but its more rare, maybe like 1/50 hours played while crash after closing a game is like 75% of the time. I know it is going to happen because my audio starts stuttering then a few seconds later my screen freezes and the whole thing crashes shortly after. Sometimes audio goes normally for 10-30 seconds while the screen is completely frozen and if im on a call i can get some last words in before the crash. Tried numerous in person computer repair stores none of them can solve it. One of them tested my components and said they were in good condition. This is showing hardware error though. please help

update: day i did DDU + very old driver no crashes,

next day go back in , crashed again, checked driver, it updated to new driver automatically, today reverted driver like above no crashes. Driver is clearly the issue. Maybe GPU is somewhat the issue as well?

what is the best way for me to feel safe going to a new(er) driver? watch Nvidia forums or news maybe? either way i can periodically test and revert to this old driver if i really need to.

right now im running off the oldest one i could find. is there another reliable one that is more recent that i could test in the meantime? right now there are not really games forcing me to update or causing significant performance issues but if that day comes do you have a version you would recommend?

Yes, you will be able to update the version, but for the moment, it is best not to, because of the number of people reporting difficulties with the latest versions of the drivers.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

From your description of the problem, the best first option is to completely remove the current graphics card device driver using the widely available free DDU utility, then restart your PC and go to the support page for your PC on the manufacturer's website to download and install their recommended version of the graphics card device driver.

A slightly older version of that driver is more stable than the latest version.

Wait to see if your system is then stable.
