Problems after Windows update

Hello,

Could you please help me with my win update.

Although I don't have an update scheduled, Windows updated the system itself, on 15.8.2024. After I turned on the laptop, it said that it could not restore the data and that if I wanted to save my data, I should immediately log in to the account again, which I did. The data from the desktop is in the User folder, and everything else was deleted and recreated as when I first bought the computer. I tried to make a return on 14.8.2024 but he says he failed. I also tried to return on 25.7.2024 - also failed. Ok, I set everything up again, but on 17.8.2024 there was another update and everything was deleted again. Please let me know what's going on?

Thank you

Tea

That does not seem to be a Windows system error, most likely 3rd party software you have installed.

Are you in the old corrupt account or newly created account when that error appears?

Yes, it does seem your user profile is corrupt.

If you now have a safe copy of your files backed up, it would be best to create a new user account as administrator, restart your PC, log into the new account and delete the old corrupt account.

    Open the Settings App

Go to Accounts - Family and other People

Click 'Add someone else to this PC'

Follow the prompts to create a new account.

    Close the settings app

Log out of that user account

    Log into your new account

Click the Start Button, type netplwiz and hit Enter

Ensure the new account is listed as a member of the 'Administrators' group first.

Then select the old account and click 'Remove'

That's It, your new Admin Account will replace the old corrupt account.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply.

Unfortunately 4x reset does not helped. Everything is the same.

In the folder C: Users it is 3 folders: TEMP, My name and Public.

In the folder with my name (Administrator rights) there are all my docs, pictures... etc. I copied em on the external hard disk.

    What now?

I must make a new user? Admin?

    Please help.

    Thank you,

    Tea

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Most likely, you are being logged into a temporary account after the update, it is a widely reported problem.

Before you do anything or move any files around

Restart (not shut down) your PC 4 times, each time let your PC get to the Desktop before the next restart, this will fix this issue a lot of the time...

    Otherwise:

    Please open Windows File Explorer

    Navigate to C:\Users

Do you see two user folders that look like yours?

Open those folders and check inside Pictures, Documents... etc. and see if your files are there

    If your files are there:

NOTE VERY IMPORTANT: Do Not copy your files into the Temporary profile you are currently in, when the situation is corrected, your files will be deleted with the Temporary Profile and will not be recoverable !!

Create a new user profile with Admin privileges

Log into the new user profile

Copy all your data from the old profile to the new profile (Documents Library, Pictures Library... etc.)
