Hello, and thanks for reaching out! I'm Nals, and I'll be happy to assist you today. My response times may vary, but I generally reply between 10:00 AM and 8:00 PM IST (UTC +5:30) every day of the week.
- Could you please provide the KB number of the specific update you are trying to install?
- Do you have any third-party antivirus? If so, temporarily disable it and then try again for the update. Also, please check you have enough free disk space for the update
Open File Explorer (usually by clicking the folder icon in the taskbar).
Click "This PC" on the left-hand side.
Your main hard drive (usually C:) will be listed under "Devices and drives."
You'll see the amount of used and free space displayed for that drive.
If the issue persists, please try the following steps and see if that helps
- Run the Windows Update troubleshooter
Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
Go to "Update & Security" and select "Troubleshoot" from the left-hand menu.
Under "Get up and running," click on "Windows Update" and then click on "Run the troubleshooter."
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.
- Restart Windows Update Service by CMD
Press Windows key + X key together, then choose Command Prompt(Admin).
In the Command prompt window, type the following command and press Enter after each command. Wait for each process to finish before continuing to the next one.
net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
net stop msiserver
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
net start msiserver
Once you've finished entering all the commands, close the Command Prompt window and restart your computer.
If you have any additional questions or need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I'm here to help!
Best regards,
Nals
