I recently reset windows 11 on my HP-ec2146ax and now the HP S700 512gb ssd which i installed aftermarket (as in it didn't come with laptop), which showed before (and i was using it since a year) resetting is not getting detected by any windows program like disk management, device manager, diskpart etc. When i boot into esc menu before booting the windows and then the System Diagnostic menu, it shows there. My 10 year old photos and videos are there in the disk and i don't want to loose them. Please help!!!!!!

    Hi Jay Yogi.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

In your description, I understand that you are having issues with your SSD not being recognized after resetting Windows 11.

You have almost 10 years of photos or videos saved on your hard disk and I do understand your concern about losing them.

We have also received feedback from other users who have the same problem after resetting their computers. It is very likely that you will lose some configuration information of your hard drive after the computer reset, which will cause it to be unrecognized or unreadable, so please make sure you have a good backup of your data before resetting your computer.

Please connect this SSD hard disk to another computer and try to save or backup the data inside.

Then we can recover it by reinstalling the system. Please refer to the following steps

Use a USB drive to make a system installation media, insert it into your computer, then boot up your computer, and under the guidance of the motherboard manual or device manufacturer, enter the BIOS setup page, set the system installation media (USB drive) made earlier as the boot device, and reinstall the system in this way.

Disclaimer: At this point, we have exhausted all troubleshooting and I recommend that we try to perform a clean install to get your computer back into a Please ensure that you backup any important data, including Documents, Pictures, Videos, and more.

If your SSD is also unrecognized on other computers, or after you have reinstalled the system, the drive is still unrecognized or unreadable, then there is probably some problem with the drive, please contact your trusted data recovery center, or the manufacturer of the drive, and let them perform a data extraction or data recovery for your drive, and then format it after the data is processed, to see if you still have the same problem. If there is still a problem have them perform a hardware check on your hard disk.
