If I had a windows 7 machine with an upgrade to Windows 10 then 11 then 12.
Would I need to buy a licences for every VM I create? It would appear that Microsoft is ripping people off by making/forcing them to purchase licences for every VM so if the running software does not work on later versions of windows (Cadence sold OrCAD for £400 but it only works on Windows 10 max!)
Did you use a Windows 7 license to upgrade to 10, then 11 (there is NO 12), prior to now??
The free upgrade from 7 to 10 is now finished, so that option is now finished.
And 10 is no longer sold by Microsoft.
And from 7 > 11 does not come for free and Windows 7 machines are not compatible for Windows 11 as they are too old hardware wise.
And you need another License for a VM as a VM is a separate install and for that you also require a Retail License.
