Windows Temp Again

C:/Windows/Temp is filling up again. Judging by the times, I would say it is doing it while the machine is idle. They are event logs.

Microsoft-Windows-AppReadiness_Admin_*.evtx

Microsoft-Windows-AppXDeploymentServer_Operational_*.evtx

Microsoft-Windows-AppXPackaging_Operational_*.evtx

Microsoft-Windows-SettingSync_Operational_*.evtx

Microsoft-Windows-StateRepository_Operational_*.evtx

....

What process is causing this?

There are no reports of any recent Windows update that would have caused this, but the updates can cause different problems on individual systems and hardware.

Was there a recent update that you know of, that caused these to start showing up in Windows temp? These only started appearing a few weeks ago.

It is the Windows Event Log service that creates those evtx files, if you want to disable that, you can disable that service in the Services utility in Windows.

As for why they are created, check in the Event Viewer for errors generated in there

    A few dozen. About 100Mb.

Not so concerned about count and size. I want to know what is creating them. And why.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Those files are just event logs created by Windows how many of those files are being created?

Select all the evtx files and select Properties, what is the cumulative size of those files?
