Touchpad not working

Touchpad stopped working. I've updated the drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled the touchpad. I don't know what else to try. I could use some help. The laptop is used virtually day and night, is still under warranty.

Looking forward to hearing from someone.

Thanks

    Hi Christine,

    Thank you for your reply.

I did find a solution on Lenovo's website, which they don't make very prominent. It took quite a while to find this.

After updating the drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling the touchpad, neither of which worked, I did the following:

Turned off and unplugged the laptop.

    Pressed "fn+s+v" for 20 seconds.

Pressed the power button for 30 seconds.

    Then turned on the laptop.

That procedure worked perfectly. Hopefully anyone reading this post and has the same problem will be helped by it.

Check Device Manger first to see if you touchpad is loaded or has an issue.

if has an Issue, try deleted it and restarting system. Don't worry windows should load it back.

If you checked for the device and you do not see it listed at all.. problem could be that the ribbon cable inside came loose. This of course if no liquid was spilled on your touchpad.

Sometimes users may set a setting that, when they plug in an external mouse, it will disable the touchpad.

Also, there maybe a setting on your laptop that will disable your touchpad that you may have enabled mistakenly. You would have to google your laptop brand and inquire how to disable/enable touchpad using the FN key.

    These are all my thoughts.

    Sam

If you installed back any update regarding touchpad, try uninstalling them, see if it helps you.

    Hi Berj,

I'm Christine, I'll be happy to assist you. I can see here that your touchpad is not working. No worries, I'll do my best to help you.

If you don't mind me asking, have you tried to reach Lenovo Support already regarding this?

May I know I know if you have already tried to download and install the touchpad driver from manufacturer's website?

We can try to perform System Restore:

    System Restore:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/use...

Note: It won’t delete your personal files, but it will uninstall apps, drivers, and updates installed after the restore point was created.

Please let me know how it goes.

    Thank you,

    Christine L
