Windows Defender Spam

Question

Hello, I received a suspicious email this morning from a source with the email address: ******@gmail.com.

The header was:

Thank you for your Purchase 7220048557.

The message content was:

Hello,

The subscription fee has been made and confirmed. We are pleased to notify you that we have received your 40576121416 payment as agreed and we wish to sustain our business with you. Please, see the invoice attached herewith for your convenience. If you require any additional information or if you have any questions, kindly do not hesitate to contact me.

There's an attachment but I didn't open it, of course. I took a screenshot of the small attachment preview but it looks like I can't upload it here. It has the Microsoft Defender logo and claims to be an invoice. Where it sais your Bill explained, I'm seeing:

"Thank you" for choosing Windows Defencer Protection for your computer. Below are the details of your bill:

The bill amounting to $349.USD has been deducted from your account for Fees Payment regarding Virus Threat...

The rest is cut off in the preview. None of my bank card accounts have been charged. What is this?

Well done for being suspicious, you would be amazed how many users fall for this!

This is a well known scam, that was not sent from Microsoft, the senders address is spoofed, the Defender built into Windows is and always will be free, that is a scam to try to get you to provide your bank account details, you should delete that Email and not interact with them
