Hi all,
inside company there are three file server Windows Server 2016 DataCenter with DFS.
I would improve disk space usage via "Data Deduplication".

Installation guide to install and configure it are for example
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/data-deduplication/install-enable or https://www.vladan.fr/windows-server-2016-configure-data-deduplication/

In my case these three File Server has got a Data disk. Is it enought enable "data deduplication" for Data (Partition D: ) partition for all these three servers?

Are there any contraindications regarding its use with some file formats?
Does it slow down file server performance?

Best regards

    Hi,
Based on my understanding, it will slow down the file server since anyway it’s using system resource to carry on.
And for the contraindications regarding its use with some file formats, for your reference:
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/data-deduplication/interop
    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/windows/desktop/dedup/about-data-deduplication

    Hope this will help.
    Best regards,
    Danny
