"Connected, no internet"

Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5040442).

Strange little problem on my Acer laptop:

I've just moved house. The new house is completely cabled. I have a wireless access point downstairs ("EXT_1") and one upstairs ("EXT_2"). If I am upstairs connected to EXT_2 and move downstairs, the laptop will connect OK to EXT_1, but there will be no internet connection. Nothing I do (switch between 2.4 and 5 ; disabling and re-enabling WiFi) will fix it, and I have to reboot the laptop to get it to connect again but with internet.

It's not the end of the world but it can be irritating. Any ideas please?

Thanks

Hi Ntruby. My name is Lester, and I am an Independent Advisor. I'd be more than happy to assist you. I'm so sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Don't worry, I'll do everything I can to help you.

When was the last time it worked without any problems?

What changes did you make to your computer before the issue started?

May I know the exact model of your Acer device? Press Windows + R then type MSINFO32 then hit Enter:

Meanwhile, please try the methods below if it helps:

    1. Run the Network troubleshooter

Click the Start Menu > Settings > Network & Internet > Status.

Select Network Troubleshooter > Click Run.

Follow the on-screen procedure, and see if that fixes the problem.

    1. Type 'command prompt' on your search bar and right-click the result, then run as administrator

copy and paste each command(one at a time) below and hit enter:

netsh int tcp set heuristics disabled

netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled

netsh int tcp set global rss=enabled

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh int ip reset

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    Restart your PC then check

    1. Disable Fast Startup:

Press Windows + R, type Control, and hit Enter.

Under "View by," choose "Small icons."

    Select "Power Options."

On the left side, click "Choose what power buttons do."

Click "Change settings that are currently unavailable."

Under Shutdown settings, disable "Turn on fast startup."

Shut down your computer and wait for 10 minutes.

Power the system back on and then check.

I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please let me know. Thank you.
