    Have uninstalled KB5040442. KB5039895 KB5037591 KB5039212. the most recent updates but, although uninstalled they still show in the update history. Still unable to open McAfee.

    No error message. Go to virus and threat protection, click on manage providers. McAfee is turned off. Will not turn on. It also appears defender cannot be turned off. Next will uninstall the latest update.

    What happens when you try to start McAfee? Is there any error message?

    Try open Start and go to Settings and click on Windows Update and under Update History , click on Uninstall updates and uninstall the update which causing the issue and restart your PC and see if it solved the problem?

    Open start and search for feedback and open the Feedback Hub app and report this issue.

    unable to run McAfee since update KB5040442. download new McAfee fails.
