Hello.

Recently I tried to download the Xbox software/ app on the Microsoft store, but when i would search up and click Xbox app it would just say:

"Error encountered, one of the update services is not running properly, errorcode: Code: 0x80070005"

I tried to look this up but all i would see would be running sfc / scannow on powershell, etc. Didint work for me and when i did it it would just say that everything's fine. Also i found on the net that you should stop the windows update service and clear the "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and then start the service again. However i only found "windows update" on the services and it wouldn't let me stop/start it, it would just be blank and "unclickable". Also i cannot update windows anymore it would just say "updates failed" and "2024-02 Cumulative Update Preview for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems" and the same error code : "Download error - 0x80070005"

Please help :)

    Hi,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

All the problems are slightly interrelated.

The first step would be to try resetting Windows updates using an automatic script.

Reset Windows updates in Windows 10/11

    http://www.yourwindowsguide.com/2015/12/windows...

Download the file > Right-click it and run as administrator. Reboot and check for updates again.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ot1kwb78h3rpx3z/WuRes...

If that does not help, go to Settings > System > Recovery > Under Fix Windows updates issue, click Reinstall now.

I am looking forward to your response and am committed to working with you until we resolve this.

Hello Have you tried to download the xbox app off of the website?

    xbox-app-for-pc

Try that to get the xbox program.

Also you can play the "cloud" games right in the browser.
