You can't upgrade from 8, even to 8.1 as Microsoft has now removed the download link for 8.1.

What are you trying to upgrade to?
It looks like Microsoft has ended the downloads for 8.1.
Microsoft no longer sells 10.
And Windows 11 is not suitable for older computers.
