I need to move over an SQL database (MSSQL 2008) that is on prem on a windows 2008 server over to Azure. From what I have read, using the Data Migration Assistant is the way to go. However, this will not install on Windows Server 2008. Is there another way to move over a database to Azure that one can suggest or a way to install the data migration assistant on my older server?

Thank you

You know Windows Server 2008 is out-of-suppot since a very long time?

See Microsoft® Data Migration Assistant v5.3 => System Requirements, no Win 2008, but client OS Win 7, 8 and 10. So you can install DMA on any client and run the migration from there.
