Microphone Not Working

I have a microphone that is connected properly, is on, has a good battery, and works fine on other devices. I tried it on my Windows 11, and it didn't work. I did all the basics like permissions enabled, disabling and enabling the device, updating the drivers, and all that blah-blah-blah-basic-stuff. It all didn't work. I even checked the device manager and it had nothing else I could do, so I checked the device's details and I checked if there was a problem, and it was false, so I also checked if reboot was needed and that was also false. So finally I checked to see if there was any sound, and it was true that there was no sound. So after all that, I researched and found nothing, and tried to do microphone troubleshooting but I could not find it. I tried everything.

Can someone please help me turn on the microphone sound, or show me how to go to microphone troubleshooting?

Thank you!!

(I can't upload any screenshots, it's not working right now... maybe because of wifi)

    Hi,

This problem has happened since the beginning. The problem is not caused by driver issues, because I already tried updating and restarting the drivers. I really do think that the problem could be that the mic is muted, but I just can't unmute it.

The device manager tells me there is no problem, but the mic is muted. I just need to unmute it.

Thank you for all the support and please let me know what else I could do to unmute the mic!

    Hi, Patrick_099

    Thanks for your reply.

Has this problem been happening from the beginning, or did it start after you installed something? From the description, this problem seems to be caused by something within the system. If the problem persists even after a clean boot, it is likely not caused by third-party software, and is probably related to drivers. Please contact your motherboard manufacturer (computer manufacturer) and ask them to assist you in reinstalling the motherboard and sound card drivers to see if the problem still occurs. At the same time, you can also create a new local account to see if this problem occurs with the new local account (run CMD with administrator privileges and enter net user test /add).

    Hi,

The microphone is connected via USB-C. It is not Bluetooth. I tried with another mic, and it didn't work either. I also performed the clean boot, and it didn't solve the issue. Could you maybe tell me how I could access microphone recording troubleshooting? Please let me know.

    Thank You!

    Hi, Patrick_099

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

It seems like you’ve already tried most of the troubleshooting steps. Do other microphones also have this problem? Are you currently using a Bluetooth microphone?

Please press Win+R, type in mmsys.cpl to open the Sound Control Panel, and go to Record to check if there are other audio input devices. If there are, disable all devices except for the microphone you need to use. After that, perform a clean boot of your system and then test whether the microphone’s audio device can input normally (using

Windows’ built-in testing function). If the microphone itself has an audio adjustment function, try adjusting it to the middle.

A****clean bootwhich****starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It can be used to determine whether a background service or program is interfering or causing a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step.
