Hey, Bishal here,

I am trying to install the Windows 11 version 23H2. Everytime, the software gets downloaded and it fails while installing. It says Error 0x80070005. I have tried many times, but the software just downloads but doesnt install. My C-drive space gets reduced by around 1GB everytime the installation package downloads.

Windows module installer also keeps running the whole day and fan doesnt stop running at high speeds.

The most successful method to install version 23H2 is to use the Windows 11 ISO to perform an in-place upgrade.

Please follow the steps, this is then not like re-installing Windows, it is just like an update and your personal files, settings and installed software will not be affected.

    Click this link:

to download the Windows 11 ISO

When the ISO file completes downloading

    Disconnect from the Internet

Disconnect all external devices with the exception of a mouse or keyboard.

Temporarily disable any 3rd party Anti-virus you may have installed

Then, in Windows File Explorer, double click the ISO and then run Setup.exe and select the Install option.

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1

What method are you using to install the version 23H2 update, is that through the Windows updates section in the Settings App, or are you using the Upgrade Assistant or Windows 11 ISO?

    2

If you run Disk Cleanup twice as indicated below, that will clear the space used by the attempts at updating.

    Open File Explorer

    Click on your hard drive

Click the 3 dots at the top of File Explorer, then select Cleanup

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete

    Start Disk Cleanup again

Let Disk Cleanup do its initial scan

Important - this time in the resulting dialog, click 'Cleanup System Files'

Let Disk Cleanup run another scan

Select Everything in the list and choose Delete
