The prerequisite for password-based-802.1x authentication wireless access described as below:
- One or more 802.1 X-supported 802.11 wireless access points (ap).
- Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) users and computers.
- Group policy management.
- One or more Network Policy Server (NPS) servers.
- The server certificate for the computer running NPS.
- A wireless client computer running Windows ® 10, Windows 8.1, or Windows 8.

Wireless Access Deployment Overview
The prerequisite for 802.1x authenticated wired access deployment described as below:
- One or more 802.1X-capable 802.3 Ethernet switches.
- The Active Directory Users and Computers Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
- Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
- One or more NPS servers.
- Wired client computers running Windows OS.
