Laptop cannot boot without USB stick

Thank you for these!

As my laptop cannot boot up unless i insert usb, the only options i have to fix this would be using BIOS or physically check if the hard disk is connected properly. As I am not really tech savvy, I am afraid that if i try to dismantle the laptop to remove the hard disk, i might screw up.

So, I would prefer to use the BIOS method. However, in my BIOS, there is no SATA controller mode setting as mentioned here...

The laptop model is 520S-14IKB (Type 80X2) Laptop (ideapad)

    Different models, even those provided by the same manufacturer, may have differences in the BIOS. Therefore, if you want to make any changes to the BIOS, it’s best to contact the technical support of the manufacturer to assist you in finding and changing the relevant BIOS settings. Regarding the boot issue, please enter the BIOS to check whether your main hard drive is in the boot items. It’s possible that the EFI boot disk has been written to your USB drive.
