Default Location Problem

I cannot set the Default Location in Windows 11. It keeps defaulting to an old address for my Home, even though this computer was bought after moving from that address, and when I enter my new address, the app says it cannot find the address.

    Dear LarryRothstein!

    Thanks for your reply!

I understand that you are unable to set the default location of your device.

You can try to set the location using a local account.

To do so, right-click Start->Terminal/PowerShell/Command prompt (Admin), and enter the following commands:

    net user user1 pass1 /add

    net localgroup administrators user1 /add

(Replace "user1" and "pass1" with the username and password of the new user.)

After creating the user, reboot the computer, select the new user, and log in. In the privacy location settings. See whether the issue persists.

Thank you for your patience and support!

Thank you for the rapid response. I have actually tried that but it won't update. Can't seem to reset the default or home at all.

    Hi, LarryRothstein!

Welcome to the Microsoft community and thank you for asking your question in the community!

I'm sorry that you encountered the problem of Windows 11 setting the default location failed.

After testing, we did encounter the problem that entering the exact location when searching for a location will result in the location being unable to be searched, but you can try to use fuzzy positioning to move to your approximate location on the map, and then zoom in on the map and manually select your specific location.

I am not willing to provide such an imperfect solution. I have recorded this problem and submitted it. I hope that the accuracy problem of the default location can be solved in future updates.

Thank you again for your understanding and support!

    Best Regards,
