- When the first time I tried the on screen keyboard, the Shift key seemed already pressed, I opened the on screen keyboard again and shift key isn't indicated as pressed as before, the problems seem to be resolved, number keys and caps lock working fine as well. But I am sure the issues will reappear a little later, as usual.
- Here is the screenshot:
Facing multiple issues on my HP Laptop
I am facing all these issues contemporarily:
- Caps lock does not work properly: When I type it's something like "HELLo hOw are yOu"
- Number keys, Shift keys etc. Do not work, instead the symbol appears when type Number keys
- Every new tab opens in a new window.
- The "Scroll Up/Down" feature does not work properly (sorry idk what it's called)
I tried Clean boot and the issue still appears and options like Updating or Deleting keyboard driver. Num lock key, but none of them helps.
I was facing these issues together a few weeks ago, they re-appeared all of a sudden.
I am certain that all the problems that I am facing are linked to each other, they seem to appear and dissapear together.

If you bring up the on-screen keyboard, before you type anything, is it indicated any keys are already pressed?

Right click your Start button and open Device Manager, please provide a screenshot of that window.

2024-06-21T08:25:17+00:00 Hi I tried the troubleshooter and It does not fix the problem.
Secondly, I do not have any other external keyboard to attach with the laptop, but I tried the On screen keyboard and I am still facing the same problems.

1
Open Command Prompt, then run this command and press Enter:
msdt.exe -id KeyboardDiagnostic
Run that Keyboard Troubleshooter to see if that can solve the problem.
2
If that does not solve the problem.
If you attach an external keyboard to your laptop, does that keyboard work correctly?
If you bring up the on-screen keyboard, does that keyboard work correctly?

2024-06-21T06:53:49+00:00 See this to rule out drivers;
Win11 by default only installs critical security updates, unless you made the mistake of selecting “Get latest updates” which includes drivers.
See your laptop makers support to update both bios and ALL drivers.
There should be a shortcut to that makers update utility on your system.
Then set Bios to defaults & Pwr to balanced. At the end of the day shutdown, do not leave in sleep.
Finaly does HP support site feature Diagnostics tools?
