Hello, I've been getting too many HYPERVISOR_ERROR BSoD recently.

I need to run VMs so I'm not going to disable virtualization :)

System info:

OS: Windows 11 Professional 23H2

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5800X, PBO2 enabled with manually tweaked curve optimizer

GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3080, Driver version 551.86

DRAM: DDR4 3600Hz, 8G*4, XMP enabled

Here's my minidump file analysis, extracted from WinDbg.

Hello and welcome to the Microsoft Community!

According to your feedback, you are experiencing a blue screen error.

Both blue screen logs show the same error message “The hypervisor has encountered a fatal error.”

First log: ntkrnlmp.exe issue triggered by system

Second log: ntkrnlmp.exe problem caused by LightingServic.

This is because you have installed an incompatible driver.

It is the lightingservice in ASUS RGB lighting system.

It is recommended that you uninstall or disable this service on your device and restart it for a while to see if the blue screen still occurs.

In addition, we recommend that you update the driver of your motherboard, and then see if the blue screen is still there!

I hope the above information is helpful.

After these attempts, I tried to update my BIOS. Then I found the root cause was the CPU voltage being too low (for overclocking purposes).
I tweaked the curve optimizer in PBO2.

Now everything works fine. Thank you!

For those who experiencing the same problem: you can also try to disable XMP profile for your DRAM.
