Weird loading issue

My computer is having an odd issue where any application I'm using will have to load, causing a brief lag spike. If I'm playing a game, for instance, my character in the game will move forward without my input for half a second. This issue happens about every twenty or thirty seconds. At first I thought it was an internet issue because my Xbox suffered from extreme lag spikes as well. I've gone as far as to buy a whole new router of much higher quality and moving my setup to a room closer to said router, but still nothing has changed despite having perfect connection. My Xbox also works perfectly, this issue is now specifically with my PC even though the Xbox is farther away from the router. Any advice on how to fix this issue would be appreciated. For added context, I have a ROG Zephyrus laptop.

    Hello, J_819

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. It seems that your computer has encountered some delays in loading applications.

    First of all, thank you for your feedback. Regarding the network delay you mentioned, you can refer to the following steps to reset the network, which will troubleshoot the network settings of the computer itself;

    A. Reset the network

    1. Search CMD, open and find the command prompt (, run in administrator) mode
    2. Enter the following commands in the pop-up command box in sequence (enter the next one after each line is run)

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

    ipconfig /registerdns

    netsh int ip reset

    netsh winsock reset

    netsh winhttp reset proxy

    1. Restart the computer to see if the problem can be solved.

    B. Reset network settings

Press windows+R, enter inetcpl.cpl, open Internet Options, click Advanced, and check "Use SSL 3.0", "Use TLS 1.0", "Use TLS 1.1", "Use TLS 1.2", apply and restart the computer to see if the problem can be solved.

    C. Reset proxy server settings

Press windows+R, enter inetcpl.cpl, open Internet Options, click Connections, click LAN Settings, check if the proxy server column is checked, if so, please uncheck it and click OK, apply and restart the computer to see if the problem can be solved.

    D. Change DNS

    1. Press windows+R, enter ncpa.cpl
    2. Click the name of the network you are currently connected to, open the Network Status window, click Properties, and double-click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP / IPv4) in the Network Properties window.
    3. Manually set the DNS server to "4.2.2.1" and "4.2.2.2", and restart the computer after confirming to see if the problem can be solved.

After that, run a clean boot. You can refer to the following link:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

In clean boot mode, run only one game that had a delay problem before and see if it works normally. If it returns to normal, it means that there is interference from other third-party software.

Disclaimer: A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps to determine whether a background service is interfering with your game or program and to isolate the cause of a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by step so that it will help you get back on track.

Finally, update the key drivers such as the graphics card driver of your computer, which sometimes alleviates the delay problem.

You can give some feedback after this, and I will continue to support you. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!

    Best regards
