Hi Everyone,

I have a customer who on there main server has a crazy folder structure .. I am always getting requests that items have gone missing or deleted ..

Normally I find the missing items were moved to another folder by someone ..

So the customer has asked is there a way to disable or prevent people from going to fast and clicking and moving stuff around ..

I have been looking for a week and so far haven't found anything that will work ..

So thought I would post a question and see ..

Thanks for the advice and help ..

    HI JoshHallett-1493,

"Normally I find the missing items were moved to another folder by someone .."

1.Could you please do virus scan on problematical server?
2.Please recall who will use these missing items?
    3."moved to another folder"
Is this "another folder" a specified folder or random folder?
4."items have gone missing or deleted .."
Does "items" mean word file or only folder?
5.What's the user permission about these missing items? like below picture.
Is there other domain user have folder modification permission?
Is it possible to deny domain users (except administrators) to modify folder where the missing items are in for 1 week or 2 weeks .
Any domain users want to change the folder will contact administrator to do it. I think this method can find who have delete "missing items".

    Hi JiaYou,

Its got nothing to do with a virus or malware .. its the users who are going to fast and clicking on a folder and then dragging it into another by mistake ..

The trouble everyone needs to be able to read , write, and delete on these folders ..

that is why I dont think it can be done .. and if I take away trans verse folder , then they cant navigate around ..

    Thoughts ?

    Thanks JiaYou,

for the software advice .. this might help the customer to at least see what changes were made when something does go missing again .. but doesn't help things from going missing ..

    HI JoshHallett-1493,

    Thans for your reply.
yes, first of all, we need to monitor who delete folder or file by mistake then we can teach him/her to do the right thing. If he/she still doesn't do right thing in future, I think we can create a new standalone folder for this user and give only modified permission for this folder and sub folders, meanwhile don't give modified permission to other folder for him/her. In administrator side, his/her new folder can be copied (Synchronized) to his/her working folder by using task scheduler with xcopy (or robocopy) script every day.
