3 x Windows Update errors

Anonymous

I have three Windows update errors 0x80070020, error (KB5039211) and error (0x80070643).

I have gone through the process of ;

1, Extending the partition through CMD prompt

2, Running the Troubleshooter

3, Resetting the Windows Updates Components

4, Installed the latest .NET

This makes no difference to the update error problem.

Best regards,

Michael.

    Hi Ramesh

    setupact.log

I cant delete the BT folder as its asking for Admin permissions even though I'm logging in as admin and configured the properties in the folder to 'Allow' all permissions.

    Hi Michael,

Please share the following setup log file on OneDrive/Dropbox and post the link here:

    C:$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Panther\setupact.log

How-To: Share OneDrive files and folders - Microsoft Support

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/shar...

    Meanwhile, try this:

    1. Delete the hidden "C:$WINDOWS.~BT" folder.
    2. Clean boot Windows using Msconfig.exe.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-t...

(Step 3 is very important. You need to enable the "Hide all Microsoft services" check box before clicking "Disable all".)

    1. Re-run the Media Creation Tool. Choose to download the ISO instead of clicking the "Upgrade this PC...." option.

Mount the downloaded ISO, right-click and choose "Mount".

Run setup.exe to start the repair installation.

    Hi Ramesh,

Thank you for your reply. However the installation failed after two attempts and updating still has errors.

    Best regards,

    Michael.

    Hi Michael,

I'm Ramesh, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

A repair installation using the Media Creation Tool should fix most of the Windows Update and CBS errors you're facing. Please see the instructions in this article.

Download the Media Creation Tool from here:

    https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=2265055

Run the tool and follow the instructions in the article below.

How to perform an In-place Upgrade with Windows 10 Step-by-Step Guide - Microsoft Community:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

The above procedure should also resolve the 0x80070643 error (when installing the KB5024441 update.)

    Note:

Your apps, settings, and files will be intact during the repair installation. However, ensure the "Keep personal files and apps" option is ticked/auto-selected during the setup.
