Windows screen capture function doesn't work if a Word dialog box is open

I just encountered a problem with Word. I tried to capture a screen shot of the error message, but the Windows screen capture didn't work. I closed the Word dialog and then the screen capture worked.

I got the same result with Excel. If a pop-up dialog is open, screen capture doesn't work.

When I say "screen capture", I mean Win+Shift+s.

Why does the it fail when a dialog is open?

Can you try this options please to reset Offices,

    • Press Windows + S to open the Windows Search dialog.
    • Type office in the search box, right-click Office app and select App settings.
    • Click the Reset button under the Reset section to reset Microsoft Office.

It will reinstall Microsoft Office and revert to default settings.

In my original post I answered most of those questions. I checked that it is Win 11. It is not a Mac and I have the latest Office version.

I don't know if you can help me answer the questions I asked you, since I was seeing in past forums that it was a privacy issue regarding the use of Windows 11 on Apple computers
