Guess what, Windows Defender requires TLS 1.2 enabled. Enable the TLS 1.2 protocol.

Install KB3140245 for Windows Embedded 8 Standard.

    Go to

download and run the file enable_tls.reg.

Whoops,.! The moderator is right on the money..

forgot that "Windows Defender" is a built-in antivirus

program in windows 8 and 8.1 : The users can

only disable and reenable it. For testing

purposes. So to the OP who

    posted this question

    take note of it

    You can't uninstall/reinstall Defender in Windows 8.

It is part of the operating system.
