UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME Help!

So I JUST finished my PC today, fired it up before putting it in the case and the BIOS works fine, got it all in the case and wired but when I go to install Windows 10 I get the UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME error and it goes into a restart loop (I'm able to enter bios during this restart loop). It's an Asus ROG STRIX B650-a GAMING WiFi with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. I haven't updated BIOS. I was using a USB 3.0 64GB USB drive, not really sure what would cause it but most troubleshooting I see require the OS to already be installed so I can't go that route.

    Hi, selektDark

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to learn that you got this error message during your first Windows installation." The "UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME" error is a common Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error in Windows and is usually associated with hard drive problems or file system corruption. Since you have encountered this error during Windows installation, you can take the following steps to troubleshoot it:

    1. BIOS/UEFI Settings:
      • Ensure that the USB drive is recognized in the BIOS/UEFI.
      • Check if the USB boot is enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings.
      • If your PC supports UEFI, make sure it's not set to Legacy or CSM boot mode.
    2. Create a New Bootable USB: If you have access to another Windows machine, you can try creating a new bootable USB using the Windows Media Creation Tool.
      • After downloading, run the media creation tool. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
      • If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
      • On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
      • Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit) for Windows 11.
      • Select which media you want to use:
      • USB flash drive: Attach a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

Moreover, this error is usually not something that causes a reboot cycle. In this regard, if it reboots for no apparent reason during the installation process, you may need to contact the manufacturer of your motherboard to ask about it, which doesn't seem to be the norm in my opinion.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards
