Kernel Power - Event ID 41

Hi, I have been getting Kernel Power 41 error since December 2023 and for the past few months, I have tried a lot of things to fix it and just came across this question from this link "May I know how to solve a kernel power 41 error as my computer keeps crashing due to this issue?" which had the same issue and a memory dump file was requested. I noticed that a Memory dump file had been created on 17th April. A crash occurred that day, and after that, 2 more occurred on 23rd April and 25th. So, I am attaching a Memory dump file from 17th April as no new big dump file has been created yet. Please analyze it and check what caused the issue. Thank you.

    Hello,

Thanks for the clarification! Looks like update wise everything is the latest. I looked over forums but every suggestion is just pretty generic and the root cause seems to be unknown. I would still lean for software issue.

The last thing I can recommend and what I would do (although I know it's a hassle, the last time I encountered BSOD I also did this) is to reset the system. Download the free ISO file, burn it on a USB and install it from the recovery. Make sure you delete then repartition the windows partition and install a clean image.

Before this you can try to restore BIOS to default and to see if you made any changes, undoing them will help if any. And disable any overclocking if you did any. Afterwards like I said, your fastest and best bet is to reset the system.

    Wishing good luck!

    Regards

    Hi,

Glad to hear you got somewhere. The Kernel error does suggest something power related so Chipset update is a good option.

Based on the motherboard there is a driver from 2023 for chipset. And also you might want to update BIOS as well. For this do it only if you know what you're doing. Also disable PIN while performing it so it won't conflict with TPM. It will also reset all BIOS settings if you decide to update (which I highly recommend)

    TUF GAMING X570-PLUS|Motherboards|ASUS Global

For the Chipset just compare if this is what you have installed already, if so you can skip it.

    Regards,

I got an update on this case. I again got the same "ntkrnlmp.exe" error and now decided to do the "Driver Verifier" Diagnosis and got a BSOD. I checked the DUMP file and a new error has showed up called "msgpioclx.sys". It showed on the BSOD screen too. I am attaching the DUMP file. Please check it and let me know if there is anything I can do to fix it. Also the motherboard link that you gave is not the correct one. My board has "(WI-FI)" next to the name. The correct link is this one "TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI) and it has the chipset driver from 2022. The version numbers seem identical. The two boards are the same except one has WiFi and one doesn't. My BIOS is up to date and I had uninstalled the chipset driver from AMD and installed the one from my board's website.

    Hello,

Can you first tell me if this is a laptop or desktop? and then some specifications about it if a desktop/custom made, anything that can help me.

As for the DMP files I'm hesitant to download it being 1.5GB when they are usually a few kb/mb maximum. Are you sure you only attached DMP files? copy the few DMP files from windows - minidump folder to desktop and upload them again.

Meanwhile you can also update the BIOS and tell me if the crash happens randomly of when using any app in particular.

    Thanks,

The DUMP file is from desktop and it is a single file. And I already have gotten a suggestion. I talked to an agent after a few days of posting this since I wasn't getting any replies. The agent analyzed the file with remote access to my PC. The issue was regarding something like "ntkrnlmp.exe". Apparently, it has something to do with chipset drivers. I have uninstalled the driver provided by AMD and installed the one from my motherboard manufacturer which is from 2022. However, you're welcome to give your insights on this and yeah that is a single DUMP file as I have "Automatic DUMP" turned on instead of small dumps. The agent later turned on "Kernel DUMP" probably since I was getting kernel error. Currently I am testing my PC with the driver from the board.

    My config is given below.

    CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 5700X - CPU Cooler : Deepcool AK620 - Motherboard : ASUS TUF x570 GAMING PLUS WiFi - RAM : Corsair Vengence LPX 16 GB 3200 MHz x 2 - GPU : Zotac GeForce GTX 1660Ti Non-AMP - Case : Corsair Graphite Series 760T - Storage : Lexar NM620 M.2 256GB ; Seagate Barracuda 4 TB 5400 RPM ; Seagate Barracuda 2 TB 7200 RPM x2 - PSU : Corsair HX850 80+ Platinum - Display(s) : LG 24” FHD IPS 3-Side Borderless Monitor with Dual HDMI - Keyboard : A4 Tech - Mouse : A4 Tech - Sound : Microlab TMN1 4:1 - Operating System : Windows 10 64 bit version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.4291)
