Hey Team,

What causes this error?

Something went wrong and your PIN isn't available (code: 0x80280101). Click to set up your PIN again. I was told it was a 2FA error that's why they're unable to log in. Is this accurate? Thank you!

What does it mean when it says something happened and your PIN isn't available

Why is my Microsoft PIN not working,.?

The issue you are facing generally happens. if Windows has corrupted files in the

system or your profile is corrupted. Do a restart and try to setup the pin again

*-- Go forth with the above fix. and report results*

    Hi Ronni,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

TPM 2.0: Commands not being accepted because of a TPM

We can try clearing TPM, which stores hashes for the PIN, hoping it works.

Please open the Windows Recovery environment using either of the steps below:

On the Lock Screen, Press and hold the Shift key. Then, click the restart button on the lock screen located at the bottom right situated in the Power menu, to open the Windows Recovery options.

If you cannot reach the Lock screen or start your computer, restart your PC two times when the boot screen is shown. If your PC has no restart button, press and hold the Power button until the computer shuts down. Do this twice.

    Select UEFI Firmware Settings.

Choose Security>Look for Intel PTT/Security chip option in the firmware Settings.

Clear the same and save the changes.

    Good luck!

Hey, thank you for your assistance. I'm not entirely certain, but the information I received indicates that they were unable to log in due to a 2FA error. This was because they changed their phone number, so they weren't receiving the code for the 2FA. I'm not sure how that is related to their Windows PIN; perhaps they've set up 2FA for their Windows PIN? However, they have since been able to log in.
