Can't Stop Timezone Changes: Need Help with Windows 10 Settings

Hey everyone,

My Windows 10 computer keeps switching timezones without my permission every time I start it up. It's really frustrating, especially since I can't seem to change the settings myself - they're all grayed out, except for the "Set the time automatically" button, which isn't grayed out, adding to my confusion. I've been using

Command Prompt to fix it temporarily, but it's not a long-term solution.

Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to fix it? I'd really appreciate any advice you have!

Regards,

Kaleb

    Hello Rota Ye,

Thank you for your detailed response and suggestions.

I've followed the steps provided and confirmed the time zone settings. However, I forgot to mention that the issue occurs sometimes when I boot my computer, which adds to the confusion.

After scanning, checking, and restoring the health of my computer, I'm pleased to report that it all seems to be in good condition. Despite this, I remain puzzled by why my timezone keeps changing automatically and why my options are greyed out, particularly the "Set the time zone automatically" feature, which is quite annoying.

If there's any advice or guidance on how to fix this issue and regain control over the time zone settings, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I appreciate the recommendation to perform a clean boot and create a new account if absolutely necessary. I'll proceed with these steps if the issue persists after further troubleshooting.

Thank you for your assistance, and I'll keep you updated on any developments.

    Best Regards,

    Kaleb Dennis

    Hello,Kaleb Dennis

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

Understanding that your computer device automatically switches time zones, it looks like the system synchronises the time for you every time you reboot your computer, you can type Control Panel into the search bar at the bottom and open it, select Clock & Zones - Date & Time, click on the "Change Time Zone" button to confirm that you want to select the time zone and click on "Change Date & Time" to confirm that the time is correct. Click "Change Date and Time" to make sure the time is correct.

If the problem still persists after trying the above methods, we consider that it is a system level abnormality, please check it out:

    • Right-click on the Start icon, select Event Viewer, and check if there are any events in the "Windows Logs" list under "Applications" and "System" that have changed the time before and after booting up the computer.

Finally, let's try some basic steps to narrow down the problem:

Exemption: "Clean Boot" boots Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It helps you determine if a background service is interfering with your game or program and isolate the cause of the problem. These "clean boot" steps may seem complicated at first glance. However, to avoid problems, follow them in order and step by step to help you get back on track.

    • You can use this command to check and fix if system files are missing and corrupted, the system searches for the command prompt at the bottom of the search bar, right-click to run it as administrator, type the following, and press Enter on each line as appropriate:      Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth      Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth      DISM /Online /Cleanup-image /RestoreHealth      SFC /SCANNOW
    • Create a new account, log in to the new account, and see if the problem persists. If the issue doesn't occur in the new account, or may be related to the original user settings or configuration file, follow the steps below: Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

Give it a try and feel free to contact me in the forums with any developments.
