Im trying to install windows from a usb but it's not letting me, I keep going back to the current version I have on my laptop.

If you are trying to update the current Windows 10 installation to the latest version and build then with the USB inserted open File Explorer and select the USB. In the right hand pane double click setup to start the update and follow the onscreen instructions.
