Windows search box doesn't automatically select the best result anymore

Usually I pressed the Win key to open up the windows start menu and I typed any letters there to start searching for my apps and files.
For example I usually type 'Win' then 'F' and 'Enter' to open File Explorer.

The problem is that now the search box doesn't automatically select the best option anymore and I have to manually click or move with the arrows onto the first result.

How do I fix this or go back to the old behaviour? I already tried restarting windows explorer.

Hi Mark,

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

This should not be the case. Can you see if Resetting the search helps? All steps here:

I have the same issue, some of my keys don't automatically select the best result. I'll try this when I have access to my Windows laptop again. The only difference is that I use Windows 11 instead of Windows 10, so the script may not work.
