hello, Microsoft,

I bought my PC(Huawei) in Jan 2024, when buying this PC, the vendor of HUAWEI activated the Windows license and said it is forever active.

However, after less than 2 months, the PC is displaying I have to activate Windows license in waterproof. So I found the vendor,

he said he had suggested me buy software to prevent the windows license from missing when installing the system.

so my question are:

  1. Is there any software exist could prevent windows license being stolen? because I am thinking the vendor is cheating.
  2. Please suggest a way to get my windows license back.

Allen, this is a forum thread, so yes, it will stay open.

This store definitely sounds very shady. I am sorry you have to deal with them.

The legit license you need is retail license. You need to let the store know that installing KMS license is a violation. I hope you used the link I gave you to report them. Good luck to you.

    Thanks for your reply, Emily

It is a digital production shop selling various kinds of digital productions like PC(mainly HUAWEI, Lenovo, Dell), HUAWEI cell phones, ipad, etc.. and they guarantee they are selling official HUAWEI products.

I talked with them yesterday and they said they don't know about KMS license and insist re-installing my PC. I refused because if they don't know about KMS license, I think it won't actually help even by re-installing my PC.

am I correct what I really need is just a windows license key for personal use?

I am trying to confirm with HUAWEI support regarding this, could you please help to keep this ticket open for a few days if this will not impact your performance? I still need professional advice to go further.

    Allen

Allen, Is this vendor a third party? Or are you dealing with official Huawei? They are dishonest to you.

They installed KMS license on your device. This type of license is for organization users only. Organizational users are required to connect to the organization's KMS server to validate license every few years to stay activated. If you are not a organizational user, you shouldn't be using this type of license. It is considered a violation of licensing terms.

I am afraid you would have to contact your vendor again and let them know. If they still won't license your device properly especially you have paid for the price that should include the licnese, you will need to report them: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/howtotell/cfr/r...

Hello, Emily, thanks for your reply, the following is the screenshot of the result. Sorry it is in Chinese, please let me know which item is import to you and I can translate it for you.

Btw, I got a feedback from the Huawei PC vendor, he asked me to reinstall the whole Windows system to get my window re-activated, but I don't think it is a good method because I've deployed some complicated environments for training and learning in this PC and I also don't think it could prevent reoccurence by using this way.
