External bluetooth adapter can't load drivers

Hey,

I have a Windows 11 PC, intel i-7 13700k CPU. I'm trying to enhance my BT range with an external BT adapter (USB connection)

I tried 2 different adapters (both official adapters, Realtek based, 1 of them is D-Link), in every USB port my PC have (about 12), the error is always the same: (taken from Device status in Device Manager)

'''

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

{Operation Failed}

The requested operation was unsuccessful.

'''

I tried to auto-update drivers, it keeps saying I have the most updated version. I also tried downloading drivers and install them manually, though it always says I have the most updated version. I tried disabling and enabling the adapter. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it using "scan for hardware changes". I tried restarting my PC several times as well. I really did try most if not all conventional methods, and would like help

If it helps to identify the issue, it did work in the past. For about 2-3 months. It just one day, stopped. I can still connect to the PC built-in BT receiver, but the connection is very weak and unreliable. In the same day the BT stopped working, other weird things stopped working. For example, I couldn't use Notepad app or Nvidia control panel, and had to go to Windows settings and Repair each app that wasn't working individually, because it "couldn't find" the executables for them apparently

I hope these are enough details. I did try to look on the forum but mostly people said they solved it themselves without specifying how.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly!

Although I understood about half of your suggestions :)

can you please explain a bit more about where do I find each setting, or at least something I can look up in Google?

I do see I have the switch of "get the latest updates" turned on, so I suppose that's the first thing you meant?

So assuming I did do the mistake of enabling it, what can I do now?

    See this

By default, win 11 update auto updates only critical win updates, and nothing else unless you have made the mistake of selecting the "Get latest updates" option, and if you have turn it off. (It includes drivers)

You obtain both Bios & Drivers updates from the PC Maker, there should be a shortcut on your system to that makers update utility, and no other source.

Then set Bios to Defaults & Pwr to balanced.

At the end of the day shutdown, do NOT leave in sleep

I use BT WholeHome mesh system
