Why does the start menu suck?

this start menu used to work perfectly in windows 8

I would type an application, program, file, and it would work just fine in a reasonable amount of time (~2 seconds max)

this new menu doesn't workhttps://answers-afd.microsoft.com/static/images/image-not-found.jpg

(image not here because the uploader doesn't work, but press your windows button and the start menu pops up and tells you about something awful you don't care about and advertises garbage mobile games to you)

anyways, if you search an application using this new abomination, it lags as soon as you type more than three characters, doesn't find what you're looking for half the time, and 90% of the suggestions are 'search the web'

if I wanted to search the web I would've opened a web browser

you all stink

    Hi Elton,
I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.

I would like to let you know that this is a user to user support forum and we do not have control over engineering decisions.

You can disable web search in the start menu. Do you need instructions for the same?

    Please keep us posted.
