Unknown USB driver (device descriptor request failed)

Question

I'm experiencing this problem in my unknown Windows 10 usb driver (device descriptor request failed) after I attached some new Corsair Wireless Void headsets.

As of this moment, the backlit lights on my MSI GP75 Leopard laptop, no longer turn on. I have strong doubts that the error (device descriptor request failed) is the cause of this malfunction.

What I tried to do to try to solve the problem:

• Uninstall and update drivers from "device manager"
• Copy the device instance path and go to "Registry editor" and HKEY_Local_machine >system > current control set > Enum>Usb. I get that path and Right click to new file as DWORD 32bit and named as "EnhancedPowerManagementEnabled" and set the value to 0 and restart the windows.
• Disable USB selective suspend setting
• Disable fast startup
• Use hardware troubleshooting
• Use some commands, for example "sfc /scannow" and "wuauclt.exe /update now" etc.
• At last I Update my windows 10
• Reinstall Steelseries program
• Used a restore point prior to the problem

From the Steelseries programm, I see in the preview that the backlit layout changes and I can choose many layouts but the keyboard remains switched off.

I don't want to totally format my PC, I don't have time to do it and I would like to avoid doing it.

Please help me I don't know what to do anymore.

I have these peripherals under USB Controller, is it the first one by any chance?

I am not sure...

Hi ,

It would be Intel 3.1 USB Host Controller Extesinble and Nvidia USB 3.10 Extensible, uninstall both.

But remember, it is possible to be a hardware failure since the light control system could be a USB connection internally connected. Asus laptops are configured like this.

First do a test by uninstalling the USB controller. This error is generally possible to be a hardware failure, not a software failure.

Go to Device Manager > USB Controllers > Intel USB Extesinble > Uninstall device.

Then restart the computer to reinstall the USB driver.
