desktop layout randomly changed

When I woke up today, all my icons have grown despite the size scaling being untouched. it also spread the icons randomly all over the desktop (for reference, my desktop had a lot of dead space and now there's maybe 1 spot without an icon).

    That setting can change, if you are on the Desktop and you accidentally press the Ctrl key while scrolling up or down on your mouse wheel

    Didn't think that was it due to some not growing at all, it did indeed fix the size. not the random layout though (although I can fix that). any idea how that got changed? As I didn't touch anything related to the icons.

    Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    Right click your Desktop and select View - Small Icons

    Does that resize your icons to normal?

    If not, select one icon on your Desktop so it is highlighted, please provide a screenshot of your Desktop
