There was this optional update which I allowed and it keepa giving me BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) every time I try to update. The update gives me the message "pending restart". When I restart, it successfully does its things till 30%. Then after restart, I get BSOD. Then it goes to recovery mode, then undoes the update and computer starts normally again.

2024-02 Cummulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 (KB5034763).

How do I stop Windows from installing this optional update again?

I have the exact same problem. Win 10 installs the update without consent at 3 AM. Then in the morning the computer is crashed and when I restart it bluescreens. After restarting about 10 times it offers to revert the update. After it finished that the computer boots normally again. Wasted about 30 minutes today and yesterday with this nonsense.

I have auto-updates disabled, still Microsoft decides it wants to install software which brakes my computer. Such a **** experience- unbelievable.

Without accepting anything Windows decided right away to reinstall that update which will crash my PC on the next boot:

Exactly the same issue, walk away from computer and come back to a login screen which is an immediate sign that BSOD has happened. Working away and I get crashes, on average about every five minutes or less. The security update reappears, I go to uninstall and select restart and always an error that it can't be fixed and update is back. My only option is to uninstall and not restart so I can at least work for a period of time without frustration.

I also can't perform a system restore and windows keeps saying possible anti virus inhibiting the process which is rubbish.

Hi, good day! I'm John and I'll be happy to assist you today. I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.

I recommend reporting the issue through the Feedback Hub app to notify Microsoft.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/sen...

Once uninstalled, I recommend using the “Show or Hide Updates” troubleshooter to hide the problematic update. Windows Update won’t install hidden updates. Run the troubleshooter then please try to hide the KB5034763 update that will show in the list. You may try restarting your pc if it helps.
