Windows 11 updates made all my games stutter and lag

I have been a pc gamer since I was 9 and games have always been smooth. From my Sims 3 days to my current fallout 4 and stardew valley rotation, everything has worked fine. Back in the day I had an Emachines desktop that could play Sims like nobody’s business, but now on my new up to date hardware, sims, fallout 4, stardew valley, etc, all stutter and have weird fps drops.

I have Intel i7 and Nvidia 3070 Ti and 32gb of ram with 144hz monitor. None of my games can hold that stable 144, it will drop to 143 which shouldn’t be noticeable but it gives a large stutter or jolt when the fps drops.

I have tried my games with Gsync enabled and disabled, in-game vsync on and off, tried rolling back W11 updates, and updated my GPU drivers but nothing is fixing this terrible stutter that has infected all my games. Also when scrolling using my browser stutters just with general use.

Nvidia had recently released an update that they said would fix this exact stutter and lag problems but it seems it was for newer GPU in the 40 series, but what about us with still really good capable hardware having these same issues.

I tried the windows settings of enabling game mode and variable refresh rate. I saw a post where someone said that disabling a windows service within task manager will stop the stutter. The service was called Power, but I can’t disable that service on my pc. I do however have gamebar and sysmain disabled to no avail

I have been experiencing the exact same thing. After the last Windows 11 update 2024-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5036893) my games became virtually unplayable. I am a bit tech savvy so I decided to do what I knew how to do and then follow the information to sort it out.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I have run memory diagnostics (mschd.exe). I have removed excess files to clear up space. I have run command prompt. I have cleared caches. I have trouble shot. I have de-fragmented and optimized. I have used disk cleanup. I have gone to my graphics settings and turned on the toggle to reduce latency. I have prevented my computer from over-heating.

I have done EVERYTHING that has been suggested in these articles and with my knowledge yet still my games are unplayable. I meet all the system requirements to play these games but for whatever reason they will not work without lagging. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game and it didn't correct the issue.

I cannot fathom why it is so difficult for Windows to resolve this issue. I have seen countless posts addressing this same topic but no assistance has provided a long term result. The steps I have taken which I listed above are what are being given as advice by tech personnel in these forums. Not a single suggestion has resolved my issue.

In all fairness Windows 11 is simply the worst OS I have ever had the displeasure of working with (and that is saying something, I despised Vista). I never experienced these issues with Windows 10, XP, heck even '98 or '95 but it appears that tech issues are simply the name of the game these days.

Could anyone provide assistance which has a positive success rate which is not one of the things I have listed above?

or be like me, I rolled back two personnel PC's to windows 10, no problems since, and my gaming PC, games are now buttery smooth, video's open instantly, no more hanging, or waiting,

and office is like, click, and its instant, and on one PC, I let windows install all updates (windows10) no problems either.

At the city I work for, IT was going to roll out windows 11, but cancelled due to issues, and now back to windows 10 as well.

No more windows 11 for a long time too come.

I'm having the same problem, but for me it goes deeper than that. It's not just that my games are stuttering now, but my whole PC is. I'll be watching stuff on youtube, and the video will occassionally stutter out, and the audio is constantly popping and cracking, like it's tripping over itself while it plays. I'm proper tired of it and I hope it gets fixed soon, though given how long this post has been open for I don't see that being likely.

Microsoft PLEASE fix this problem. Our games were perfect before but now the stuttering is unbearable.

Other people are having this issue and the usual fixes that I have been using since I was 9 years old are unfortunately not working anymore. I am now 24 so I’ve been in this game a long time, pun intended.

This stutter has to be a windows thing because I have rolled back GPU drivers to no avail.

Is there anybody that can help us fix this? I am still having this issue. Rolling back drivers have not fixed anything and new updates have not helped me at all. Is there anything to fix my pc lag. Even scrolling on google chrome is laggy.
