Random Black Screen Crashes

Hi all!

I've been having issues where my screen randomly goes black and my PC crashes. Sometimes I can still hear audio in the background and sometimes it's a full on crash.

Things I've tried:

  1. Updated all drivers
  2. Underclocked GPU
  3. Set GPU to Max performance from Nvidia Control Panel
  4. switched HDMI cables
  5. Ran all clean command in the terminal
  6. Uninstalled and re installed GPU drivers multiple times using DDU

This is what my memory dump files look like after running them through WhoCrashed software:

Analysis: This is a video related crash. A DirectX driver was identified on the stack. Since there is no other responsible driver detected, it is suggested that you look for an updated driver for your graphics hardware. It's also possible that your graphics hardware was non-functional or overheated.

System Specs:

Device name Moe

Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.7 GB usable)

System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1660 SUPER

The PC crashes randomly. Could crash 5 times in 2 hours or 0 times in 24 hours. I'm going insane. I'm also 99% sure there are no overheating issues in my CPU or GPU.

Would really appreciate your help

Assuming a branded PC start with this simple process. Dont bother as yet with the dmp files as some will advise, we allready know its a vid driver issue.

By default, win 11 update auto updates only critical win updates, and nothing else unless you have made the mistake of selecting the "Get latest updates" option, and if you have turn it off.

You obtain both Bios & Drivers updates from the PC Maker, there should be a shortcut on your system to that makers update utility, and no other source.

Then set bios to defaults & Pwr to balanced to test

    Hi Mohammad,

I'm Paul, I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem.

Don't worry, I will help you to solve it.

Can you share the actual minidump files?

    1. Open Windows File Explorer
    2. Go to C:\Windows\Minidump
    3. Zip those files
    4. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.).
    5. Then share the link here.

    Thanks.
