Folder not showing on another computer

Please help!!!

I copied a folder into the local disk folder in a hard drive (I backed up the files on my laptop before reinstalling windows on the other one). Now I've copied them back and I can't see the folder when I put back the HDD in the laptop and the disk space shows 443GB remaining. When I connect it back to my laptop, I still can't see the folder but the disk space shows 320GB free. The folder I copied is about 120GB, so it means the folder and its contents still exists somewhere on the hard drive. Note, my laptop is Win11 and the other one is Win10. How do I find the folder, it contains important documents 😩

    Thank you Tommy,

The folder is not hidden, but it doesn't show up. I have hidden files viewable, so I can see other hidden files and folders. The drive letter is assigned properly, but the folder in question doesn't show up on both laptops at this point. The drive doesn't open anymore when I connect it as an external HDD, but it boots properly and is fully accessible when I open the Local disk but the missing folder is still not visible.

    Hello EzenniaChinedu George.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Regarding to your information I assume that you can't access the folder that saved important documents.

If this file is important to you, to ensure the safety of your data, it is recommended that you seek help from an offline data

recovery company (or contact the manufacturer of your hard drive).

At the system level, we can help without damaging the files. Firstly, please ensure that the folder is not a hidden folder.

You can access the root directory of the disk through a browser or check the relevant settings in Windows (on your Windows 11 machine).

For example, I want access C driver you can access this URL.

    file:///C:/

To access the settings for hidden files, you can go to File Explorer, then choose Options, and then go to the View tab to find the

    relevant settings

Additionally, please right-click on the Windows logo to open Disk Management and send us a screenshot showing the disk to see

if the loss of the drive letter is due to some reason.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Best Regards,

Tommy-MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
