Hello. I was playing Beyond Blue, on a PC I just recently installed a RX 580 in, and the computer just randomly shut down. I'm trying to figure out why it happened. I'm wondering if the 450 watt PSU isn't enough. I'm using:

Intel Core i7-6700

16GB DDR3-1600 RAM

RX 580

Event Viewer showed Event ID 41:

Log Name: System

Description: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

When I checked the url in the Event ID, I just got a blank page saying: "The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable." Any help would be appreciated.

    Yes. It may be overheating due to dust accumulation.

    I usually use compressed air to clean PSUs.

    Okay, looking at the power supply, I noticed there is a large amount of dust caked in the power supply on the components and especially the fan. Is it possible that the power supply is simply overheating because of the dust?

    I haven't found an error that could be causing these random shutdowns. Only the entries that say the shutdown was not expected and "Event 41 Kernel-Power".

    The "Event 41 Kernel-Power" alone is often caused by a problem related to the PSU. This raises the suspicion that your PSU cannot handle the RX 580.

    I searched the PSU recommendation for this graphics card and found several sources saying between 450W and 550W. Apparently, AMD recommends at least 500W. But I didn't find an official source of this information.
    Therefore, I believe that the PSU is the cause of these abrupt shutdowns you are experiencing.

    I was able to repeat the problem before I copied this. The game ran for maybe ten minutes or so before the computer restarted.

    Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

    Export and send the log for analysis:

    1. Press "Windows + X" and select "Event Viewer";
    2. Expand "Windows Logs" and select "System";
    3. In the "Actions" panel on the right, select "Filter Current Log";
    4. In "Event level", check the boxes "Critical", "Warning" and "Error" and click on "Ok";
    5. Again, in the "Actions" panel, select "Save Filtered Log File As" and save in an easily accessible place.

    Then, upload the file to the cloud (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc...), choose to share it, and get the link.

    Post the link to the file here so I can have a look.
